Bristol Derby Day 26/03/25

Get ready for the ultimate day for sport at Bristol Uni. Derby Day features 25 sports, 53 fixtures and over 1300 athletes from 10 universities!

The day event will be packed with thrilling competition, cheap drinks, food and music, finishing with the Derby Day Afterparty at Fishies on The Triangle.

We’ll have interviews from competitors and spectator commentary throughout the day to keep you updated on all the action.

What’s at Coombe?

Coombe Dingle will be the heart of the action on Derby Day!

Expect live matches in every direction you look, from Rugby to Hockey, Lacrosse and so much more! Spectators can also enjoy matchside snacks from the coffee and food stands.

In the ‘Derby Day Hub’, you can grab a beer at the Hub Bar and watch some competitive bouts between some of the universities best fighters in the Combat Sports Ring 🥊

What is Bristol Derby Day? 

Derby Day is Bristol SU’s free festival of sport where athletes and supporters come together to celebrate the end of the winter season!

Throughout the day, 25 Bristol sport teams will face their biggest rivals from their chosen university. For competitors and spectators alike, this day will showcase the very best of the Bristol sporting community on an action-packed day which extends late into the night!

Do I need a ticket?  

There is no ticket for entry, it's free!

Are all fixtures at Coombe Dingle?

There will be venue-specific sports happening at other locations – like squash. Check the fixture table above for location information before you travel!

How can I get to Coombe Dingle?

Free buses will run regularly (every 30min) from Tyndall Avenue for both spectators and athletes, making it easy for everyone to get involved 🚍

There is a carpark on site if you are making your own way to the action and safe cycle routes along Parry’s Lane.

Will there be food and drinks?

Spectator food and refreshments are available throughout the day!

Can I bring my own alcohol?

You cannot bring your own alcohol, but alcohol will be available to purchase at The Hub at Coombe Dingle. The discounted bar is on site 12.00-21.45 (last service at 21.30). Any alcohol you bring to the venue will be confiscated & disposed of due to licensing laws.

Is there a prayer room?

Yes, there is a prayer room on site - upstairs in main pavilion.

Can I store my kit overnight if I want to stay & watch other matches?

Yes, there is a prayer room on site - upstairs in main pavilion.

Can I leave my car overnight?

Yes, the facility will be locked, but it is at your own risk

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are not allowed on site, unless they are a service or support dog.
