UBTRC is the university’s most enthusiastic sports society—join us and experience it firsthand!

Whether you’re looking for a casual runaround on the downs, lively Wednesday socials, or are eager to represent the university at the BUCS championships, UBTRC has something for everyone. With opportunities to play at any level, we ensure that everyone finds their place in our inclusive society. Come along to a Wednesday Social Training Session and discover why we’re the best club on campus!

For those who simply want a runaround on the Downs in a fun, mixed sports society, our social membership is perfect for you! It includes a weekly social training session, a Wednesday night social, and an introductory competitive touch training session—all for just £45!

If you want to further develop in our sport, the competitive membership offers even more. It includes an extra coached training session each week, access to the Monday Night League, where we compete year-round against other clubs in the South West, and the chance to represent the university at local friendly tournaments and the University Touch Championships. Membership is £90, plus a mandatory £25 SEH Pass fee. We promise you'll get your money's worth throughout the year! As proud winners of the Team Spirit award, we can vouch that UBTRC is the best club on the circuit!

We keep a busy social calendar with events ranging from pub crawls and scavenger hunts, to ‘family’ evenings and sober socials. With three training sessions a week plus socials, there's always something to do, somewhere to go, and someone to hang out with—just come along and meet us! As a club that plays in mixed teams of all gender identities, we take pride in our inclusivity and diversity.

Touch Rugby is a rapidly growing sport in England, and now is the perfect time to get involved! Evolving from rugby league, Touch shares the goal of advancing the ball to the opponent's score line but with some key differences.

Touch is a minimal-contact sport where tackles are replaced by (usually!) gentle touches. After 6 touches, possession turns over, giving the other team a chance to score. With a team of up to 14 players, but only 6 on the pitch at a time, the game is fast-paced and dynamic, with constant player rotations.

We play in mixed teams of all gender identities, bringing together a diverse group of players, each contributing unique skills and attributes. The best way to learn Touch is to join us and Give it a Go! Our Wednesday social sessions on Durdham Downs are perfect for trying something new and becoming part of a fun, friendly student community.
