- 1. Member of University of Bristol staff
- Step 1: Submit the Staff Unacceptable Behaviour Form.
- Step 2: Report is referred to the appropriate HR team.
- Step 3: You might meet with an HR representative.
- Step 4: Investigation by HR.
- Step 5: Outcome is determined.
- 2. A student
- Step 1: Submit the Student Unacceptable Behaviour Form.
- Step 2: Formal complaint is submitted.
- Step 3: You are assigned a Student Liaison Officer (SLO).
- Step 4: An Investigating Officer (IO) is assigned to your case.
- Step 5: IO informs the responding student of the allegations.
- They are assigned an SLO.
- They submit a written response or attend an interview.
- Step 6: IO conducts the investigation.
- Interviews witnesses and both students.
- Collects relevant evidence.
- Step 7: IO reviews all evidence and writes a report for the decision maker.
- Step 8: University Disciplinary Decision Maker decides the outcome(s).

- Outcome letter is sent.
- If unhappy with the process handling, you can submit a complaint.
- Outcome for Responding Student:
- Outcome letter is sent.
- If unhappy with the outcome, they can submit an appeal.
