Crime

Students who experience a crisis or are the victim of a crime outside normal working hours can contact the police on 999 (emergency number) or 101 (non-emergency number).

The University Security Services operate 24/7 and their contact number is 0117 3311223 (emergency number) or 0117 928 7848 (non-emergency number).

  • If you feel unsafe on or around campus call Security or go to your nearest University building and ask someone to phone Security for you.
  • As well as the above for issues such as bullying and harassment you can make a formal complaint using the University’s Acceptable Behaviour Policy.
  • You can contact a Bristol SU Advice adviser to discuss and get advice on making a complaint.
  • The University also has a police officer who you can request to speak to.
 

University Wellbeing Services

You can access wellbeing support for any issue. The university Wellbeing Access team can advise you or connect you with the appropriate support and resources. This included Residential Life, Wellbeing Advisers and counselling support. There are three ways you can make an appointment:

Sexual Harassment and Violence Support

The Bridge (Sexual Assault Referral Centre)

The Bridge offers support to anyone who has been raped or sexually assaulted. They can:

  • Talk to you about what’s happened.
  • Discuss your options.
  • Provide medical care, including a forensic medical examination, sexual health and onward referrals.
  • Provide emotional and psychological support, including arranging counselling.
  • Give practical help.
  • Provide information about making a report to the police.

Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support (SARAS)

SARSAS provides a helpline, email, live chat and self-help resources to support people who have experienced rape or sexual abuse either recent or historically. They support girls, boys, women, men, trans and non-binary people.
