Throughout the year, our events team here at Bristol SU put on some great events for students to see some more of the UK and its visit top attractions 🎡

Recent trips to the Cotswolds were a huge hit! Students enjoyed the well-organised schedule, free time to explore, and the chance to make new friends and connections 😋

The Tower of London!

Join your Full-Time Officer Team on a trip to the UK’s capital and explore the Tower of London! 🏰

This Tudor history hotspot sits just off the River Thames in the heart of London.  Join us to see the Crown Jewels up close and watch the iconic Beefeaters change guard 💂

Look up and you may be able to spot the Ravens, who are traditionally thought to be the true guardians of the Crown and Tower 🐦‍⬛

You will arrive at the Tower of London at around 11:30 am, giving you around 3 hours to explore the iconic fortress. Entry to the Tower is included in your ticket price so there is no need to worry there!

But that’s not all!

Following your visit to the tower, you will have an opportunity to explore the surrounding area such as:

  • The Millenium Bridge
  • Tate Modern
  • Tower Bridge
  • St Pauls Cathederal 
  • The Gherkin

This is a great opportunity to see one of the UKs most iconic historical sites and learn about its history.

Date: 25 October 2024

We’ll meet at 8 am outside The Richmond Building and depart for London at 8:30 am. Arriving at the Tower of London around 11:30 am. We will then leave via coach at 5:45 pm aiming to arrive back to Bristol by 9 pm. You can buy tickets here.

How much does the trip cost?
£50 and you can buy your tickets by clicking on this link to the SU website. This cost includes all your travel and your entry to the Tower of London! This is a bargain as the entry alone to the tower would normally cost £34.80!
Is lunch provided?
No, lunch is not included in the price of the ticket. We encourage attendees to either bring a packed lunch or there will be plenty of cafes and shops to buy lunch upon your arrival! Whatever you prefer!
 

Wells and the Bishops Palace!

Join Bristol SU for a day trip to the historic Bishop's Palace in Wells! 🏰

Wells is England’s smallest city – due to its cathedral which dates to the 12th Century. Wells Cathedral is built in a gothic style and houses one of the oldest medieval clock faces in the world! Its wonder extends inside where you can pay to enter and take a tour after visiting the Bishops Palace.

The Bishops Palace is the highlight of your trip, and your ticket includes entrance into the historic grounds! You can buy tickets for this day trip here!

The palace is surrounded by a beautiful moat and features drawbridges, high walls, and stunning gardens. It’s an excellent example of medieval architecture, complete with ramparts and a chapel. With your ticket you can explore the palace rooms, enjoy the gardens, and walk along the medieval walls to get a panoramic view of the city and surrounding landscape.

After visiting the palace, take a wander through the city. Wells has beautiful medieval architecture, peaceful terraced streets and charming shops, where you can grab a souvenir or a bite to eat!

We will meet at 8:30 am outside the Richmond Building and set off for Well’s. arriving around 10 am. Upon arrival you’ll have access to the Bishop’s Palace and have time to explore the grounds at your own pace. Afterwards, enjoy some free time to wander around Wells grab some food and check out the Cathedral. We’ll then regroup at 6:45 pm to head back to Bristol, arriving back around 8 pm.

How much does my ticket cost?

Windsor Castle!

Join Bristol SU during International Students week on a day trip exploring Windsor Castle! 👑💂‍♂️

Windsor Castle is one of the most iconic and historically significant landmarks in the UK 👸👑

As the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, it has been a royal residence for over 1,000 years. Windsor Castle is regularly used by the British monarchy today – so keep an eye out for some famous faces! 📸

Explore the grand State Apartments, which are decorated with artworks and treasures from the Royal Collection, or visit St. George’s Chapel, a stunning Gothic structure that has been the site of many royal weddings.

After visiting the castle, you can explore the town of Windsor which offers plenty of shops, cafes, and scenic walks along the River Thames 🏰

Whether you’re interested in British history, architecture, or simply soaking in the atmosphere of a royal residence, Windsor Castle is a must see! 🤴

The trip to windsor takes place on Saturday 16 November. We’ll meet at 8:30 am outside the Richmond Building arriving at Windsor Castle around 11:30 am. Here you will have time to explore the castle at your own pace. 🏰
After visiting the castle and taking a photo overlooking the lawns, you'll have time to explore the historic town of Windsor. We’ll meet back at the coach at 5:15 pm, arriving back at the Richmond Building around 8 pm.

How much does my ticket cost?
