It’s an exciting time at Bristol SU. Not only are we at the beginning of a new term, but we’ve also just started Refreshers! There are so many opportunities to try something new, and one of these is our Give it a Go! series.
We put on our Give it a Go! series at the beginning of each term, offering various taster sessions for our student groups (including sports clubs).
From Kitesurfing to Ariel Hoop and Radio – you will be able to explore your interests and find a community full of like-minded people in so many different ways. You can book a Give it a Go! event right here.
With over 400 student groups, sports clubs, and societies – one of the highest numbers of any SU in the country – there is always something for everyone to try, no matter what your interests. But it can be a bit overwhelming to decide what to get involved with, and whether you should sign up before you’ve even tried it out!
This series is a great chance to try a student group out before committing to a membership, even if you’ve never tried or heard of it before. No matter how long you’ve been with us in Bristol, it’s never too late to find your perfect student group or society.
Give it a Go! is the perfect opportunity for you to explore your interests and find out what you like. Whether it's trying out a new sport, getting involved in the arts, or engaging in a cause you care about, these sessions allow you to test it out before making a long-term commitment.
Give it Go events, and student groups in general, provide a social setting where you can meet like-minded individuals, make friends, and broaden your social circle.
Societies are an easy way to meet new people and build a social network while at uni. An initial interest in one of our 400 student groups, sports clubs and societies could spark friendships that will be with you for your entire uni experience and beyond. So, joining one is a great way of building your community in a new city.
Trying something new can help you develop new, valuable skills! Whether it's leadership, teamwork, or communication, involvement in student groups enhances your overall learning experience and can help you with practical skills that last for the rest of your degree and into your career. You don’t need to worry about any previous experience you do or do not have – everyone is welcome to our Give it a Go! event series and they are beginner-friendly and very welcoming.
Our Give it a Go! sessions can help you schedule a break from your studies and try something new. And guess what, most of our sessions are free!
At Bristol, you're in great hands when it comes to student groups. After all, we're the 10th Best University for Clubs and Societies in the UK! What's not to love?
