Swap Shop just got a Glow Up!
Yes! You heard it right, remember the Swap Shop? ♻️
Launched by last year’s officer team, the Swap Shop has now got some exciting new stock, signage and décor to help it become the resource it deserves to be!
You can find it in Living Room 1 on the fourth floor of Senate House 🛋️
What is the Swap Shop?
Swap shop was launched last year by former Student Living Officer Izzy! This campaign saw the cubbyholes in Living Room 1 turn into a community larder. Here you can pick up free canned and non-perishable food! Many of these donations come from the team at Source, so swing by with a container and bring home some pasta, rice, oats, tea, coffee and more! ☕
Next to this, there is a clothing rail, with non-stained and non-damaged clothing on offer 👚 In addition to this, all the bookshelves in both Living Room 1 and 2 are part of our Book Swap! 📖
Donations of sealed, in-date canned food, pasta, flour, and other bits with a long shelf life are very welcome and encouraged. If you have any clothes that are in good condition, but you never wear any more – leave them at the Swap Shop so that someone else can take them home ♻️
This sustainable campaign is to help us combat waste and help students and staff with the cost of living!
♻️Swap Shop - Big Swaps! ♻️
Are you part of a Student Group and looking for a creative way to get involved? Why not take over our Swap Shop space and host a Big Swap drive event as a society?
Here’s how it works:
- Host a Big Swap in Living Room 1 to collect donations and help stock the Swap Shop.
- Simply fill out the form to register your interest, and we’ll support you with booking the space and promoting your event.
Why Do a Swap Shop Takeover?
- Get featured on the Bristol SU Instagram.
- Work towards your Sustainability Accreditation as part of the Bristol SU Group Accreditation Scheme.
- Organise fun, themed swap events tailored to your members.
- Support students and staff by giving them access to free clothing, food, and books.
- Make a difference by promoting sustainability on campus.
Make It Your Own
- Last year, the Trans Student Network ran amazing drives that were a huge success—could your group be next?
- Outgrown your branded sport kits? A sports gear swap could be perfect for you!
- Medical or Veterinary students, have leftover scrubs at the end of the year? Share them with students who might need them.
- Run a book swap like the Classics and Ancient History Society—swap textbooks, novels, or anything in between!
Whether it’s clothing, books, or something unique to your group, a Swap Shop Big Swap takeover is a great way to make an impact, have fun, and show your support for a more sustainable campus.
