Trigger Warning: Sexual Violence

Bristol SU is proud to be working alongside city-wide partners in the ‘We’re Here’ Sexual Violence Support Campaign. This campaign is all about raising awareness among university students in Bristol, about the free professional support available for survivors of rape and sexual assault.

We're here to let survivors know that you will be believed and supported, whether you choose to report to the police or not. Specialist services are available to listen, offer guidance, and help survivors take the next steps in a way that works best for you.

Who We’re Working With

The campaign brings together key organisations, including SARSAS, SafeLink, The Bridge, the Police and Crime Commissioners, Bristol City Council, NHSE, UWE Bristol, University of Bristol, and UWE SU. By working together, we are ensuring that students across the city know where to turn for help and support.

We’re Here to…

  • Help survivors of sexual assault find free, and professional support in the city.
  • Make you feel supported, believed and given choices about what to do next.
  • Show you the available resources, so you feel empowered to make the right decision for yourself.
  • Open conversations about sexual violence and relationship abuse to break down stigma and misconceptions.

What’s happening on Campus?

To support the campaign, Bristol SU will be hosting a series of stalls in Senate House (Lower Ground Floor) where students can learn more about the campaign, access support resources, and take part in interactive activities.
Representatives from Safelink, SARSAS, and The Bridge will be on hand to provide guidance and information.

Support Available at the University of Bristol

If you or someone you know has been affected by sexual violence or relationship abuse, there are confidential support services available to help.

You do not have to go through this alone – support is available whether you choose to report to the police or not.

The University of Bristol Sexual Violence Support Service supports students who have experienced any form of sexual violence, regardless of when or where it happened. A team of specialist caseworkers provide one-to-one support to help you understand your options and make the right choices for you.

If you are in immediate danger or need urgent support:

  • Call 999 for emergency services or 101 for non-emergencies.
  • University Security (24/7): Call 0117 3311223 (emergency) or 0117 928 7848 (non-emergency).

If you feel unsafe on or near campus, call Security or go to the nearest University building for assistance.

Local sexual assault referral centres offer 24/7 support, whether the incident is historical or current.

Together, we’re here to listen, support, and believe you.
