Are you new to Bristol? Are you looking to explore this beautiful city? Do you want to get as much as possible out of Bristol whilst you’re here?
Then look no further than Break-Away Bristol!
What is Break-Away Bristol?
Break-Away Bristol is a society dedicated to exploring Bristol and its surrounding areas as best we can, all while making meaningful connections along the way. We want to help you get the most out of Bristol while you live here! Twice a week we gather to go on “walks” and “adventures”, socials which vary in activity, length and difficulty to ensure you get what you want. Want to go on a weekend hike through the Bristolian hills and far-off countryside? We’re the society for you! Want to do a slow-paced tour of scenic views in and around the city? Then we’re also the society for you! Want to sit in a park and play boardgames with friends? Oh boy, do we have good news!
Our events
We run two weekly events (one of which is free even for non-members): “walks” and “adventures.” Walks include city walks, park walks, hikes and more. Adventures are anything that isn’t walking including treasure hunts, movei nights, ice skating and city tours.
These events take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Our society is here to cater to you, so we want to hear from you! Events will range in order to accommodate as many people as we can: from quick walks to long hikes, from day trips to overnight stays, we do it all! More than that, we’re open to suggestion – if you want to do something, if you want to go somewhere, let us know and we’ll add it to the list!
Our social medias
Events will be updated on this page of the SU Website. We also have an Instagram and a Whatsapp community where we will be announcing future events and foster a safe expressive enviroment.
Our memberships
Break-Away Bristol has two tiers of membership: 1 Year Membership (full 10 months) and TB1/2 Membership (5 months). The first exists for full-time adventurers who already know they will love the society, while the second exists for those who want to try out the first half of the academic year before fully committing, after which they can buy the second half of the membership. And that's totally okay! We're happy to have you here either way!
1 Year Memberships cost £10 whilst TB1/2 Memberships cost £6. These costs go towards organising and booking events, as well as subsiding members for costed events (including tickets and travel).
Memberships are now open!
