Welcome to the Bristol Investment Fund!
BIF provides a platform for students to dig deep into all aspects of investment management. Our investment team members develop an unparalleled understanding of financial markets dynamics; learn in-depth about publicly traded securities; pitch to professionals; get unrivaled access to professional research tools; apply investment strategies and manage risk. Led by the most experienced team on campus, BIF is the only society that offers real-life applied investment practice. ALL members gain access to our bootcamp, weekly market calls, and network for FREE.
How does the fund actually work?
The Fund acts as a long/short equity hedge fund trading on paper only, while pioneering innovative solutions that allow our analysts access to an unparalleled investment universe. BIF is split into Portfolio Manager-led teams based on sectors. Analysts, together with experienced PMs create and manage portfolios using Bloomberg's cost-realistic and tamper-proof execution system, generating risk-adjusted alpha, supported by fundamental and technical analysis. Our Risk team monitors exposure and provides commentary as well as developing hedges against undesirable risk. Check out some of our work here.
Events
We host expert speakers, stock pitch competitions, socials and market covering calls. Whether you want to discuss a professional's opinion at our conference or flesh out your investment ideas in a competition, BIF has got you covered. Analysts meet weekly with Portfolio Managers to discuss, plan, evaluate, perfect and execute investment ideas.
What if I don't have much experience?
The fund actively promotes a friendly environment and welcomes those with little to no experience. Our emphasis is true curiosity and the ability to commit, the rest can be taught. We will provide you with the resources and guidance for you to develop the skills used in the industry.
How do I get involved?
Become a member of BIF society to show interest and gain access to our events, weekly market calls, and network.
Discover the perks of being an analyst and apply for a position to help PMs research, pitch, and generate alpha. Feel free to email us your CV if you want us to keep it at hand for an opening in the year.
