We are Bristol’s most innovative and original theatre society. The creativity of our members is always our focus, and 100% of our productions are written, directed, produced and acted by students. We put on various shows throughout the year, providing the best opportunities for student writers to take their scripts to production. These take the form of traditional full-length shows as well as showcases! Our first showcase of the year, CRAM, aims to get as many fresh faces as possible involved in various different roles and often results in a silly blend of comedic sketches written and directed by the new committee.
During the first term, there are weekly writing workshops for all levels of experience run by our two writing reps. These are a great way to learn the craft of writing for the stage and a great way to develop your work, ready to submit to future showcases! Spotlights make a continuous effort to be welcoming throughout the year and we welcome and encourage everyone to join no matter your experience with theatre and/or writing. We also start with a family scheme and series of social events that are an easy way to meet our committee and make friends with similar students. We put on a freshers-only showcase in collaboration with Bristol Dramsoc, which is entirely written, acted and directed by freshers! We also take part in a number of cross-society events culminating in the yearly ball POSHed, which is a great way to end the year.
In 2024/25 we’re back and better than ever, with full length proposed shows, showcases, work in progress nights, writing workshops, socials, parties, open mics, and much more!
