We are BURST - The University of Bristol's radio station - and we are THRILLED to be back!
You'll have the opportunity to host your own radio show, broadcasting from the Richmond Building. Before our seven month hiatus, Burst has been running for 25 years providing the sound of Bristol University. Music, sports, news, interviews... you'll have the opportunity to do it all.
We welcome all sorts of creative ideas; some examples from past years are 'Agony Aunts', 'Morning Wood', 'Hangover Brunch', 'The Predrinks Soundtrack', and so many more. Listen to your friends dominate the sound waves.. or just tune in for a pleasant surprise! We guarantee there will be a show for everyone.
If being a host isn't your thing, you can be part of our production and broadcasting team, managing shows and getting involved in all sorts of media and journalism. We have regular socials that are members only, or more inclusive socials that will always be free/discounted for members. This is also a way for you to just show support for the station and to help us continue to fundraise, so we can ensure once we're back on air, we won't be going anywhere.
Standard membership will get you access to all things Burst, however another additional membership will be released next month which will be compulsory for all show hosts to buy. PLEASE NOTE: It is per person, not per show. Please don't buy this second membership unless your show is on the timetable!
Burst is a fantastic opportunity to get valuable experience in media or music journalism. But it's also much more than that! Burst is a wonderful community of innovative and creative people and a way for you to make friends with other like-minded individuals. Find your perfect co-host, show manager or simply someone to share playlists with.
We post regularly on our instagram account @burstogram, and also share committee-selected playlists on our Spotify. There's already been some phenomenal socials this year, like 'The Big Burst Fundraiser' and the 'Burst Garden Party' at the Prince of Wales, but don't you worry... there's plenty more in the works. We can't wait to see new faces (..and hear more voices!), and we hope you're all keen to get involved.
