Bristol SU recognises that the costs of participating in student groups can be prohibitively expensive for some students. The Activity Hardship Fund was created to support those students who wouldn't otherwise be able to participate in their chosen activity due to the cost.

About Us

The University of Bristol Association Football Club (UBAFC) is one of the largest, most sociable and most successful clubs at the University.

With over 100 members across six teams playing BUCS Football and one team playing in the Hellenic Division Two West, UBAFC members compete weekly and to great effect.

Our matches predominantly take place on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons - home games are played at the Coombe Dingle Sports Complex whilst away games are against other sides in the West of England. Travel expenses are covered by the membership fee paid at the start of the season. In addition to this, all players train two times a week at Coombe Dingle on a combination of Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.

As alluded to earlier, the social aspect of being a member of UBAFC is a massive selling point. Every Wednesday our members partake in the university sports night at venues which show live football, offer fantastic deals on drinks, and allow us to socialise as a whole club after the week's matches.

Trials and Membership Details

Given the number of people that wish to play football and join UBAFC, it is important that we hold trials to determine which players are good enough to join the club and play at a University standard. Throughout the academic year we hold two trials - one in September and the other in January - dates and further information about how you can compete in these trials will be confirmed on our Instagram (link below).

If you fail to get into the club at the first trial, do not lose confidence - the trial process is by no means perfect and a number of current UBAFC members failed to get into the club at the first attempt. The second trial halfway through the season is open to all and provides a great opportunity for another cohort of students to join the club.

Alternatively, if you don't pass the trial process and wish to play football in a different capacity, there is a fantastic Intramural football set-up at the University with thousands of students competing in 6,7,8 and 11-a-side fixtures weekly. To find out more about Intramural football, follow the attached link (Intramural Sport at UOB).

Memberships can only been purchased once your place within the club has been confirmed for the 2024/25 season.

The cost of membership gives you access to training sessions, socials, weekly fixtures (transport to and from games included), S&C sessions, plenty more benefits and the general joy of being a part of the club!

Membership fees for the 2024/25 season are as follows:

Full Membership - £185
Half-Season Membership - £90

Full Membership fees are paid by all players who are a part of the club from September, whilst Half-Season Membership fees are paid by those who join the club through our January trials.
