Description

Who are we?

Gamesoc is the place to be at UoB for Boardgames, Roleplaying games, Social deduction games, Trading card games, Wargames (and sometimes LARPing!). If it’s not electronic, we play it. We own huge quantities of boardgames, trading cards, roleplaying sourcebooks and wargame terrains, all available for you to try out and enjoy!

Upcoming meetups and events

We get together every Saturday, 12pm - 6pm, in the Stephenson room on the second floor of the Richmond building, and will also be holding special themed events and socials most weeks. Please note that this calendar is provisional; for the latest updates see our Discord and Instagram.

  • 29th-30th March (11am Saturday - 8pm Sunday): South West Amalgamation of Games (SWAG) in Cardiff's Student Union
Possibly England's biggest non-commercial games convention of 2025. Our friends at Cardiff University's gaming society, CRITS, are kindly hosting a gathering of uni nerds from all over the southwest for an entire weekend of gaming! Get your ticket by 14th March for just £2.50 via their website (click Buy > View basket > Log in/register > Create account > Create a guest account). For more info keep an eye on our Discord announcements.
  • Thursday 3rd April, 6pm in Den & Terrace: 2025 Gamesoc AGM
It's time to elect a new committee, and we need you to run! A passionate and organised committee is essential for Gamesoc to continue thriving into 2026. This is YOUR chance to step up and put your own ideas into action, making Gamesoc into the best possible version of itself. A committee position is tremendously fun and well worth the work you put in. See our Discord announcement for full details.

Our community

For all our news and updates, as well as a fantastic community of fellow gamers to chat with, we'd love for you to join our Discord server (you don't need to be a member). This is our primary venue for general discussion, finding Tabletop RPG groups (like Dungeons & Dragons), suggesting improvements to our society, and more. To keep up to date with the more socials side of the society, follow the Instagram @uob_gamesoc, and you can reach us with any other queries through either Discord, Instagram or by emailing bristol.gamesoc@gmail.com.

One of us! One of us!

Membership is just £3 for the whole year – this money goes directly into expanding our inventory, organizing events and overall improving your experience as a member of the society. As a paid member, you get the following benefits:

  • Access to all our weekly meets, and you can bring a couple of non-member guests along too
  • Access to our Tabletop one-shot days
  • The right to borrow any games or materials from our inventory
  • Opportunities to influence what we do as a society, eg. suggesting games to buy
  • Your name on our Discord server will become green (very important)

We hope you decide to visit and become part of the society, the more members the merrier! So come along, have fun, make friends, and let’s play some games together!
