Description

Welcome to UoB Muay Thai Society!!!

Muay Thai is one of the most effective and uniquely aesthetic striking arts on the planet. It is the pride of Thailand and has historically dominated other kickboxing styles. Thai boxing is rapidly growing in popularity across the globe, and in recent years has experienced a surge in popularity thanks to its beauty, efficiency, and culture.

Muay Thai utilises boxing, kicks, elbow strikes, knees, upright grappling (clinch) and various forms of sweeps, trips, dumps, and throws. Our classes cater for all levels and abilities, from complete beginners to seasoned fighters, and are led by a team of passionate and experienced student coaches all throughout the week. Whether you want to improve your fitness, flexibility, learn self-defence, work off some stress, or just have fun and meet new friends, UoB Muay Thai has something for you!

Advanced

If you have been doing Muay Thai for a while level, we have multiple areas where you may test your abilities! First, we have a strong light sparring culture where you may practice techniques and try new moves in a low pressure and friendly environment.

For those wishing to up the ante, we have a intersociety open sparring day.

Here we have a set number of hard sparring matches where we pit fighters in our society against each other, this is refereed and open to the public to view for free.

Lastly, for those who wish to compete, we have an extremely active Fight team where we send fighters out to compete at other universities or even train with our external coaches and fight at amateur shows. In the second term we have our biggest night which is the UoB v UWE fight night where we face our rivals here at home in the SU building !
