Bristol SU recognises that the costs of participating in student groups can be prohibitively expensive for some students. The Activity Hardship Fund was created to support those students who wouldn't otherwise be able to participate in their chosen activity due to the cost.

About Us

We are a vibrant and inclusive community celebrating Punjabi culture through music, dance, food, and festivals. From Bhangra nights to food socials and major cultural events like Lohri, we bring people together to experience the best of Punjab. Whether you’re Punjabi or simply interested in the culture, everyone is welcome — so come be a part of it.

Membership Details

Memberships for the year 2024/25 is LIVE! And as an act of goodwill the committee has decided to make it FREE for this academic year. Getting the membership gives you free access to our bhangra workshops, and the ability to rehearse and join our Bhangra Team!! Moreover, membership also gives you access to discounted tickets to our events.

A membership also gives members the right to vote at the end of year AGM for any constitutional changes.

Classes/Event Information

  • Bhangra Workshops: We carry out bhangra workshops every fortnight and we announce the details on our Instagram and Whatsapp groups. Bhangra Workshops are FREE for members and £1.50 for non-members. 
     
  • Lohri Event: No better way to start TB-2 than with a banging Lohri event brought to you by the Punjabi Society!! You can expect food, games, music and a night full of unforgettable memories!
     
  • Jaggo Ball: In collaboration with other Punjabi Societies in the South West, this is the biggest event of the year, the iconic Jaggo Night. Expect an experience that will take you back to weddings in Punjab, with delicious food, and an amazing DJ, and a dance floor to conquer.
     
  • Club Nights: Expect club nights tailored to us in Bristol, in partnership with clubs we will deliver long anticipated Punjabi Nights out in Bristol.
     
  • Non-alcoholic events: Expect many events tailored to our non-drinkers, these include events such as Chai and Games, GolGappe and Gallan and Karaoke events.

At Punjabi Society, we host at least one event each week, following a two-week cycle—one week we hold a Bhangra class, the next a social event.
