We are a vibrant club that promotes the practice of Taekwondo through training, tournaments, socials and events!
A community that thrives on the essence of diversity and inclusivity, we take pride in welcoming individuals from all walks of life—embracing differences in age, race, sexual orientation, and gender. Our core belief is that everyone, regardless of their background or even skill level, from absolute beginner to seasoned international athlete, can find their place here.
At our heart, we focus on World Taekwondo style Kyorugi (sparring), as well as Kukkiwon style poomsae and other Kukkiwon sparring styles.
Curious to learn more? Join us for a session at the Carpenter room of the SU building every Wednesday from 17:00 to 19:00 or Sunday from 16:00-18:00. Whether you're here to refine your skills or start a new journey, we're excited to welcome you with open arms!
At UoBTKD, we offer two membership plans: full membership and partial membership. A full membership gives you free access to all of the sessions we’ll host this academic year, along with the right to attend tournaments and buy gear and themed merchandise. A partial membership provides discounted ticket prices for each session, while still allowing you to attend tournaments and purchase merchandise. If you don't have a membership, you'll need to pay the full ticket price for each session.
If you have a partial membership and would like to upgrade to a full membership, you can purchase an upgraded membership by paying the difference between the price of a partial and a full membership. This will give you all the benefits of a full membership. You can upgrade to a full membership at any point in time.
If you expect to attend more than five sessions this year, we recommend getting a membership. For those planning to attend more than eight sessions, which is one month of sessions, the full membership is the best option.
Membership Type | Membership Price | Ticket Price |
None | 0 | £7 |
Partial | £20 | £3 |
Full | £60 | 0 |
Bristol SU recognises that the costs of participating in student groups can be prohibitively expensive for some students. The Activity Hardship Fund was created to support those students who wouldn't otherwise be able to participate in their chosen activity due to the cost.
All of our training sessions are held in the Carpenter Room of the SU/Richmond Building! That's 105 Queens Rd, Clifton, Bristol BS8 1LN.
We have two sessions in a typical week: a beginner friendly session on Wednesday, and a more intense session on Sunday. We will expect everyone to wear at least their shin guards on Sunday, so you will either need to get your own or borrow gear from the club. We also sell gear on our Bristol SU Merchandise Hub page!
Session tickets are free for full members, £3 for partial members, and £7 for non-members.
If you are planning to sign up for a tournament, buy merch, or attend socials, you will find them as events you can sign up for on here.
A typical week of training will look like this:
Should there be any discrepancies, we will inform you via email, on our WhatsApp groupchat, and on our Instagram stories.
