The University of Bristol Trampoline Club is a long-standing club that welcomes everyone from complete beginners to those who were born on a trampoline. We are committed to providing opportunities for all individuals involved with the university to participate in trampoline gymnastics and our coaches will support you in whatever you would like to focus on, whether it's recreational bouncing, competition success as a national-standard athlete, or simply wanting to nail a cool new move!
We were originally founded as a trampoline club, became trampoline and gymnastics in 2012 with the addition of the new discipline and have since gone back to purely trampolining once the gymnastics side became financially viable to survive on its own. Our two clubs remain close and have occasional sessions together.
Bristol SU recognises that the costs of participating in student groups can be prohibitively expensive for some students. The Activity Hardship Fund was created to support those students who wouldn't otherwise be able to participate in their chosen activity due to the cost.
This year we've obtained more training time than before getting our club a 3-hour training slot every Sunday afternoon.
We'll be training in the Bristol University Indoor Sports Centre from 4-7pm every week, along with multiple coaches to help our members progress. We always head to our local pub, The White Bear, after training each week to relax, chat, and enjoy each other’s company as we're a very close and family like club
We have an S&C session every week at 9-11 in the Carpenters room in the Richmond Building. In these sessions we'll do a mix of fun workouts such as gymnastics sessions, Zumba, Just Dance, etc to more traditional workouts depending on the turnout and what members want.

A large proportion of our members take part for fun and fitness, and to learn a cool move or two. Recreational members are welcome at all of our training sessions, and we have experienced coaches on hand to help guide you through the process of learning anything you want, or simply teaching you how to get started in the sport. We also offer opportunities and strongly encourage members to become coaches, giving you valuable leadership and teaching skills as well as giving you advanced technical knowledge in the sport.
According to NASA, rebound exercise like trampoline is more beneficial for your cardiovascular health than running. This is alongside other health benefits such as increased muscular strength and endurance, improved core strength and improved mobility and flexibility.
Although mainly basing as a traditional trampoline club, we welcome individuals from all backgrounds, including freestyle trampolining, Gtramp, skiing, and snowboarding. Whether you're new to the sport or looking to enhance your skills, our club provides a supportive environment for everyone to enjoy and excel in trampolining.
The club owns eight competition-standard trampolines to ensure that everybody can train equally in all our sessions. We also have a rig (a.k.a a harness) and a wide variety of safety matting.
We're also hoping to replace a couple of our older trampolines in the near future for two Ultimate Eurotramp trampolines, giving our members the best of the best to train and compete on.
The club runs one of the most successful university trampoline programmes in the country. With members of the club competing at a national level, as well as our club leaving competitions with many members medalling. The university trampoline competition structure is tiered so that competitions are accessible for all levels of ability. We see a strong performance in all levels, from people with a lot of experience to people brand new to the sport, but won’t push anyone to compete but will more than happily help anyone that’s wanting to push themselves and give it a go.
We compete in the Southern University Trampoline League (SUTL) which has 5 competitions each year, including ours which is the first each year (9th of November). We never make anyone compete but strongly encourage members to give it a go at Bristol as it's in an environment people are used to and once past the nerves people always seem to enjoy and attend more comps. Even if competing isn't your thing, coming and supporting your team members is always appreciated and there's always a big social / night out at the end of each comp.
SUTL also hosts a summer ball where we look over all the achievements and awards that universities and competitors have had from the past year.
We plan to be attending ISTO this year which is a UK wide competition held in Ireland. It's a 5-day competition with trampolining, synchro, DMT, tumbling and a lot of fun socials and nights out. It's all for charity and known to be a really good time and by being part of the club you can get the chance to come along too no matter your skill level.
Socials!
As a club we're not just about learning somersaults. We have regular socials on Wednesdays as well as other socials throughout the year, including sports awards and days, various formals, our introductory house crawl and various inevitable visits to lounge and OMG for sports night.
If nights out aren't your thing we also put on multiple sober socials through the year with trips to do ice skating, ninja warrior, trampoline parks and even stuff such as going to a cafe.
We're a team both in and out of the sports hall!
