Description

🛟Welcome to UBLSC🛟

UBLSC offers members the opportunity to learn both wet and dry first aid skills and put them to the test in a competitive setting, as well as training for speed lifesaving events. We are one of The British Universities Lifesaving Clubs' Associations' (BULSCA) eleven clubs and take part in their national league, travelling the country to participate against other clubs in events such as rope throw, swim and tow and SERCs (Simulated Emergency Response Competition). We also enjoy working with the RLSS (the UK’s leading water safety and drowning prevention education charity) to promote water safety.

It's not all about competing though; we host plenty of socials, always supporting each other and having fun with no pressure! Lifesaving is a great way to meet new people, get involved in physical activity, learn new skills, visit other universities and have a break from uni work. Additionally, in the summer holidays, we aim to go on a Weekend Away as a club, which is always something to look forward to!

Accessibility

As a club, we are striving to be transparent about our accessibility and are trying to improve this where possible. As a disclaimer, at Give it a Gos and to take part in wet training, attendees must be able to swim 50m of the SU pool. Additionally, it is important to note that Lifesaving is a predominantly water-based sport/society, so members need to be able to access and be comfortable in a swimming pool environment (the SU pool has a hoist available on request). Where this is not possible, we now offer dry-only training but will do what we can to help with accessibility. Our dry training sessions are highly accessible and we will be accommodating to all attendees. Our Instagram is the best place to access posts with Image IDs in the alt text.

Please email us at: bristolunilifesaving@gmail.com, to access BULSCA's Diversity and Inclusions Policy or if you have any questions regarding our accessibility.

Hope to see you at a training session soon!

Lifesaving love :)
