Founded in 2014, the University of Bristol Pool & Snooker Club is a rapidly growing, active and popular student pool and snooker club. We welcome players of all abilities with plenty of opportunities for social and competitive play throughout the year. We enter competitions across the country including entering teams (men and womens) and individuals to the BUCS Pool and Snooker tournaments. We have also developed a strong and successful focus on charity work; with a “24 hour snookerthon” and our charity “break sale” at BUCS snooker tournaments, as well as helping raise well over £3000 for the suicide prevention charity Papyrus and the mental health charity Mind in recent years.
We run regular pool and snooker sessions twice a week, here are the details:
Snooker sessions have limited availability so you will need to register an interest for the sessions. To book yourself in for a session you will need to join our facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1919712431586372/ and comment on the posts that go up about the sessions. Or join the WhatsApp if you do not have facebook, which is available here https://chat.whatsapp.com/FWd08eTzn8i79yNmWJrwpm
To join the club we offer 2 different types of membership.. The casual membership will be £15 for the whole year and entitles you to our casual pool sessions, our socials, and most other events which we will post about on our Facebook group throughout the year. For £40 you can get our competitive membership which allows you to join our competitive teams to enter various national Universities pool tournaments, these often involve a weekend long trip and are not to be missed!
An upgrade is available from the casual to the competitive membership all throughout the year, if you change your mind later on!
If you like cuesports, or would like to give it a try, then make sure to come along to our sessions for the cheapest table rates in Bristol and a great atmosphere! If you would like to play but you're busy during session times, then join the Facebook discussion group or the WhatsApp group as members are always keen to play a few frames.
In addition to the sessions we place a strong emphasis on the social aspect of the club. We have a lot of exciting events in store for the coming year, but to give you an idea, here are a few of the things we have got up to in previous years that proved popular:
To end the 18/19 academic year the club went to Amsterdam for a brilliant, week-long club holiday to celebrate the end of what was a fantastic year for the club, and a planned 2020 holiday to Lisbon was only stopped by a certain virus, alongside a planned 2021/2022 trip to Bournemouth, so expect more great club holidays in the future!
