What is Bristol Student Union?

A student union (SU) is a group at UK universities run by students for students. It does several important things:

  • Representation: The SU speaks up for students' needs to the university and community.
  • Support Services: We help with academic issues, housing, support with the cost of living, wellbeing, and more.
  • Events and Activities: We organise events like fresher’s week, festivals, parties, and workshops.
  • Clubs and Societies: We support groups for sports, hobbies, academics, and cultures.
  • Facilities: The SU has bars, cafes, shops, study spaces, and gyms.
  • Volunteering and Jobs: We offer chances to volunteer and advertise part-time jobs.
  • Democratic Structure: Students elect leaders to run the SU and represent their interests.
