Dramsoc recognises the importance of reflecting the rich diversity of the world we live in and the creative value of placing the spirit of equality at the heart of our work. We think that everyone has the right to enjoy theatre and there should be equal opportunities for people to work as practitioners and to enjoy theatre as audience members.
Dramsoc is designed to be a rewarding and enjoyable place to work, learn and have fun, where people are treated with dignity and respect, valued for who they are and the contributions they make.
As such, Dramsoc welcomes all Bristol students and is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment always.
Dramsoc will take a stance against discrimination in all its forms, thereby making activities with the Bristol Student’s Union fun, safe, and open for all.
Dramsoc will develop a culture where diversity is hard-wired into everything we do, is understood by all, and where we all have an opportunity to be a part of the ongoing conversation about diversity in all its forms.
All Dramsoc members and those wishing to join Dramsoc will have equality of access to all Dramsoc’s resources at all points, regardless of class, race, sexuality, gender, disability or any further form of diversity.
Dramsoc recognises that individuals with protected characteristics and of liberation identities groups are subject to oppression due to a lack of power, social capital and discrimination. We recognise that liberation groups face more barriers and, therefore, will work with liberation officers at the Students Union to ensure equal access to our society and events.
Dramsoc considers the subject matter of each project in the light of equalities and is always looking for ways to broaden and diversify our pool of practitioners to bring in new voices and stretch us creatively.
